Girls’ Generation, Make ‘Em All Feel The Heat!

Girls’ Generation, indeed! SNSD (GG): Yuri, Hyoyeon, Seohyun, Jessica, Yoona, Tiffany, Taeyeon, Sunny, Sooyoung: From Left
The rise of K-POP, with many girl groups domineering the South Korean music industry, I can’t help but think about the impact that ‘Sho Nyi Shi Dae‘ (also known as Girls’Generation) has had in the Korean music industry.
Their debut with ‘Into The World, Kissing You’  the group leaped into the South Korean music industry, projecting their ‘Hallyu Wave’ (Korean cultural wave) mark through the nation.
Although, it was the year 2009 that flipped the coin for the girls, when their EP ‘Gee’ became the longest running no.1 song for nine-consecutive weeks, pulling them straight up to stardom in South Korea.
Gee was just a mere initial boost for the SNSD who stayed atop with their second EP ‘Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)’
From facing a pitch-black, concert stadium for ten minutes for their performance of  ‘Into the New World‘ infamously known as the ‘Black Ocean incident’ to a sold out concert with tickets selling under three minutes, and charting the second and third best selling singles of 20101(Oh! & Run Devil Run), SNSD set the benchmark for the other GGs to follow up.

From bubbly, innocent, shy -“Notice me”- type to bolder, mature, sultry- “You’re going to notice me!” -type of songs, from ‘Oh!’ to ‘Run Devil Run’ to ‘The Boys’, SNSD have redefined themselves;  they certainly did  “Make us feel the heat” .
With the eye-catching music video and the mix of electronic and pop music, the music video ‘I Got A Boy‘ bagged the ‘Video of The Year’ award at the Youtube Music Awards in 2013, which made them a subject of interest among the western media.
The Boys’  title track in english was released to launch the group into the global music scene which garnered them an international audience with the group promoting the song on ‘Live! with Kellyl and Late Show With David Letterman’.
SNSD, the first, South Korean girl group to have held four concerts, a feat which singles out the enormous fan following they have all across the globe.
When talking about SNSD, it can be said that the fandom  ‘Sones’ , their fans have played a vital part, pulling them through thick, rough times from backlashes from netizens and anti-fans, the departure of a member (Jessica) from the group to supporting solo activities.
(Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun, Hyoyeon, Sunny releasing albums, showcasing skills on variety shows.)
Sooyoung, Yuri, Yoona, Seohyun who are top notch actresses in their own right)
Girls’Generation often being cited as being an inspiration to many  GGs have hit numerous nailmarks on the empty, charred, blackened wall and have colored it pink with love from fans all across the globe;  a stand of testament to time to welcome GGs over the course of time.
SNSD AS A EIGHT MEMBER GROUP AFTER THE EXIT OF JESSICA
With the disbandment of the some of the most prominent, famous girl groups of KPOP –2ne1 and Wonder Girls- fans of SNSD have been holding onto the railing hoping they wouldn’t have to go through the same fate.
Sones gasped, not in bereavement but in joy when it was announced that the ‘Nation’s Girl Group’ would release an album commemorating their 10th anniversary in August, this year.
The fans rejoiced over their 9th anniversary last year, as the group released a single ‘Sailing’ for their fans, with Sooyoung venturing into songwriting.
With ten years in the industry, a whole lot of gruelling practice sessions right from pre-debut, the hardwork and determination , with the immense love from fans, Girls’ GenerationSho Nyo Shi Daewill certainly keep sailing through the vast expanse of the pink ocean,
with the anchorage from Sones, all the way, in times of harsh winds and rains, through beautiful sun-risings and sunsets.
